  13.     Here's the deal.  You send a sawbuck (ten dollars American) and a
  14. proper name to the address below.  Upon receiving the consideration you will
  15. be contacted through the same BBS or mail if desired.  If you want to use a
  16. credit card, the fee is sixteen dollars.  The return message will contain an
  17. identification number.  Standard site license fees are $50 for 10 PCs to
  18. $300 for an unlimited number of PCs.

  34.     The name and ID number are entered into the nagware dialog box.
  35. The name and ID number are added to the "notebook.ini" information which
  36. sits in the "windows" sub-tree.  "Notebook" will run without the nagware
  37. display when the "ini" file contains a proper name and ID number match.
  38. The proper name will appear in the title bar at program start.
  39.  
  40.     The matching name and ID number will work in possible minor version
  41. number upgrades containing minor fixes or improvements to "Notebook".

  44. *    The first "beta" version was incomplete and should be discarded.

  46.     Beta2 was correct but contained a non-fatal unsaved document print
  47. bug that was fixed in the beta3 version.

  49.     Beta3 added word wrap and a page margin setup facility.

  51.     Beta4 added case sense selective searches and command line parameter
  52. associative file opening.

  54.     Beta5 added title and page number output to the print spooler,
  55. searches that scan the entire document in one operation to go to a line
  56. number and/or find text, and a direct go to end of document feature.

  58.     Beta6 added a replace feature to be used with search.  Also an
  59. intermittently fatal bug in backward searches through huge documents has been
  60. fixed.  And a non-fatal bug in go to end of a huge document when in wordwrap,
  61. has been fixed.

  63.     Version 1.0 added a file run with association menuitem, a modifiable
  64. title output to the print spooler, and proper size and initial position of
  65. the position box on an 800x600 display.

  67.     Version 1.1 added default filespec enhancement to the Open and Run
  68. dialog boxes.  Also if the display driver sets a larger height for the menu
  69. bar to accommodate 8514 fonts, then larger (26 pixels high) pushbutton
  70. menuitems are shown.  A non-fatal bug of line count after a huge forward
  71. search was fixed.  Finally, a powerful automatic find and replace function
  72. was added.

  74.     Version 1.2 fixed a non-fatal bug in the automatic replace all
  75. command.  An icon file was included for better contrast on monochrome
  76. displays.

  78.     Version 1.3 fixed a fatal memory allocation bug that showed up when
  79. operating in stressed disk swapping situations.  Also the maximum number of
  80. characters on a line is limited to 1024.

  82.     Version 1.4 added a file merge function to allow the insertion of a
  83. text file anywhere into the current document.  File open and file merge can
  84. insert carriage return line feed pairs as necessary to format the document.

  86.     Version 1.5 fixed a fatal local memory allocation bug that showed up
  87. if Notebook was minimized when in word wrap mode with a file larger than 20
  88. kilobytes loaded.  Also a non-fatal global allocation bug on associative file
  89. open in word wrap mode was fixed to allow a file of any size to be completely
  90. read in word wrap mode.

  92.     Version 1.6 added word wrapped output to the print spooler, tab-stop
  93. spacing became user selectable, and a bookmark function.  Also a non-fatal
  94. backward scroll display bug was fixed.
  95.  
  96.     Version 1.7 added the editing of control codes, the copying of text
  97. from the main edit window to the search or replace buffers, and the scrolling
  98. through text fields by keystroke.
  99.  
  100.     Version 1.8 added an extended file delete function with confirmation,
  101. an edit select all function with the capability of huge copy, cut, paste,
  102. delete and undo operations, and a file merge that can be undone.  Changes in
  103. the edit control code function eliminated an unshared tight loop during the
  104. translations and allowed a keyboard escape.  Also a fatal defect in canceling
  105. printer output to a file was fixed.
  106.  
  107.     Version 1.9 added an initial size and position feature to allow the
  108. beginning Notebook window size and position to be user defined.  A replace
  109. all function defect that showed up with documents larger than 64k if the
  110. replace string was bigger than the find string was repaired.  A repeated
  111. find function defect of truncating the find and replace strings to fifteen
  112. characters was also fixed.
  113.  
  114.     Notebook version 1.A adds a File Print Selection command to allow
  115. only selected text of the document to be sent to the print spooler.  The
  116. File Print All command sends the entire document to the print spooler.  The
  117. possibility of sending two consecutive NEWFRAME type Escapes to the printer
  118. driver which causes the printer to abort task is eliminated.

  120.     Again constructive feedback determined what features were to be
  121. added to this version.  Thank you.

  123.     Notebook.exe is bundled with a help file called notebook.hlp,
  124. several useful icon files including one for black and white displays called
  125. notebkbw.ico, and this file called noteinfo.  This is Notebook version 1.A
  126. which has the label "1.A" right aligned on the menu bar.
